..There were also unexplainable
things that happened in the Vets II portion of the cemetery. Two of the
investigators went there and one felt like they had a gun pushed in her
back while the other experienced leg pain. When the second team went in
there was the distinct smell of gunpowder in the same area. Pictures captured
a little girl hiding behind a tree and EVPS captured as well. SOURCE: strangeusa.com
..Joyce's Thoughts on Restland Cemetery (4/2008): Situated on 25 acres near Monroeville, PA is Restland Cemetery, a place best known for a spirit named “Walking Rosie”, although she is by no means the only ghost in residence. Rosie’s origins are a mystery, most of the stories you find online echo popular urban legends and are therefore, most likely, erroneous. Even though her origins aren’t verified, sightings of Rosie are numerous and ongoing. Other sightings over the years have involved Revolutionary War Soldiers who died in a nearby battle to spirits of those killed in a mine explosion on or adjacent to where the cemetery now stands. ..Before the land became a cemetery, it was the site of a single family farm. The farm house burned to the foundations, and a family member recounted to one of Restland’s current groundskeepers how he saw the silhouette of a boy in the flames. The foundation itself survived the fire and was used for the administration building. Restland began interments in the late 1930’s and in the 90’s added a pet cemetery. Although this is a small section, the headstones and momentos left echo deep love and deep sadness, a poignant addition to a landscape of loss. There’s no shortage of activity at Restland, so on April 12th, we headed out with high hopes. Accompanying the group was Joe, a representative from the paranormal website: www.Visionsmagazineonline.com. Although Joe professed himself a skeptic, he kept an open mind and his camera at the ready...Upon arrival, we split into two teams to allow us to cover more of the huge graveyard. Early in the evening, we met members of Steel City Investigators of the Paranormal, a new local group also visiting Restland on a hunt that night. They’re nice people, we hope to see more of them in the future and wish them luck with their investigations. Although we’re still going over all the physical evidence collected (possible EVPs, reviewing all the images caught on various cameras), a number of us had personal experiences, including:
All in all, we felt it was an interesting night and we did come away with many personal experiences. Hopefully, when we have finished analyzing the physical evidence, we’ll have some great photos or EVPs to share. SOURCE: pittsburghparanormalsociety / Joyce & Shawn ..Joe's Thoughts on Restland Cemetery (4/2008) I received an early evening call from PITTSBURGH PARANORMAL SOCIETY DIRECTOR Shawn Kelly around 7:30pm on April 12th, 2008, asking me if I would like to (tag along) with his paranormal investigative team at a cemetery that was, as I learned, located only about 5 minutes from our Monroeville, PA office. The very first question I asked was if we had permission to be on the grounds - and his answer was YES. I agreed that this would be a good opportunity to see how they work, and just go along to document just that - I was NOT there as a Paranormal Researcher. I quickly throw batteries for the cameras on the chargers, check the gear and get ready to go out into the 50 degree night. ..At about 9:00pm I met Shawn, his team and the other investigators (one of whom was named Joyce - seems she and her friend Pam can "feel spirits") and followed in caravan to the Restland Cemetery location, arriving at about 9:20pm. Teams were chosen, I tag along with Shawn's group and Joyce & Pam... just following their lead walking along the path through the entire cemetery, scratching my head as to how the Hell I'm going to be able to get ANY shots to document this - even with NIGHTVISION on the camera (SONY 717) I wasn't holding my breath.
..FRAME 274 and FRAME 276 show a first / next shot of this hedge enclosed plot location, standing at it's entrance break, photographed from the EXACT same spot (note the TREE LINE in both shots), shot two different ways, with some things I as a photographer for over 25 years find, as in my Professional Opinion.. a little unusual and not easy for me to photographically explain... we were surrounded by ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, as can be seen in the Arial View GOOGLE MAP of this EXACT AREA (to the right). ..Moving on back toward the entrance to the cemetery, Shawn gets a cell phone call from the other investigative team searching at the far side of the park - "They see Rosie" he states with a kind of I-just-missed-it in his voice. I'm really, really cold. I'm shivering... my hands are cramping up so damn bad that I am having trouble holding onto the camera, or even being able to feel the camera in my hands. I put the camera inside my jacket to keep it warm and to preserve the battery in the cold weather and to keep the camera lens clean (yep - that works), and we all, with haste, trek back to the second teams reported location. We are on top of a huge hill - they are in a depression far ahead and below us - maybe 100-150 yards. I am straining my near-sighted, tearing eyes at about 10:30 at night to see something - even watching my step became problematic. As we walk slowly, quietly creeping ahead... my eyes start to focus on a Christ Statue that was in the immediate area in front of us, now coming into focus. Was what the other team saw possibly the statue, an optical illusion due to the cold weather and water mist from a pond about 200 yards to the right of us, or Rosie? I just don't know, but....
..FRAME 301 and FRAME 303 show the tree that everyone was stating Rosie was standing next to, darting in-out from behind it, playing with everyone perhaps. There is Nothing on the lens to cause any flairs, nobody passed in front of me, and I was standing as still as I could to get a sharp photograph. Something appears to be almost a cigarette-like smoke trail cutting across the frame, but... there is NOTHING to "BACKLIGHT" the smoke-like trail to make this photographically appear in the shot in the traditional photographic sense. This one caught my eye and was sent via e-mail to Shawn the next day. To use his words as a Paranormal Investigator: He said that he was very pleased and impressed, and not very surprised. Visionsmagazineonline.com would like to Sincerely thank the PITTSBURGH PARANORMAL SOCIETY DIRECTOR Shawn Kelly for the invitation to cover their investigation, Joyce, and the rest of the teams assembled to make this article exist... I'm sure we will be seeing more Investigations from them soon...
