Why would I recommend a Video editing program for Audio work - because I like the extra FLEXABILITY to strip-away the video footage and work with a tape's soundtrack which we do here alot, plus the learning curve in not huge, the effects package included and from 3rd party vendors is also very good as far as enhancing both the Video and Audio EFX.

..Projects can be imported into SONY ACID, but I personally had a much better result just staying in Vegas and working with the sound tools within the program. Multiple formats, upgrade support from SONY for newer program versions always a plus.

..I use the "PRO VERSION" for E.V.P. analysis just like you see used by the T.A.P.S fellows doing their "client reveal" this is a really nice, cheep, simple program that lets you concentrate on the soundtrack being analyzed in a larger, more graphic form than Vegas does.

..We have a CREATIVE 5.1 SURROUND SOUND speaker system on our workhorse PC for this type of work. The sound editing tools are all there, all that you will ever need to get Professional results as far as Restoration and clarification of the sound file being analyzed. We use this as a back-up to SONY VEGAS, again, just to see what other tools are capable of producing result-wise. This would be an excellent software choice for client investigation results.
