indigo children
by Tara Ciampa / Editor

..The indigo children derive their name from their pronounced indigo colored aura. An aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body as well as every organism and object in the Universe. This Human Energy Field is a collection of electro - magnetic energies of varying densities that permeate through and emit from the physical body of a living person. These particles of energy are suspended around the healthy human body in an oval shaped field. This "auric field" emits out from the body approximately 2-3 feet on all sides. It also extends above the head and below the feet into the ground.

..When you are in close proximity to another person you are coming in contact with their aura and it can intermingle with our own. I very sensitive person can really feel that energy more than the average person. It can even change the person’s emotional state and they can feel the emotional state of another if sensitive enough.

..The indigo child’s brains functions differently and they are smarter and have uncommon knowledge from birth. They also may have pronounced psychic abilities and it comes natural for them to connect with spirit. They vibrate at a high frequency and have a fully functional and open third eye. Negative emotions are one of the worst things for them. These emotions are invisible to us but they are like a shockwave to the indigo. The negative emotions are of a low frequency and it is a shock to their high vibration.

..These emotions are not compatible with their being. This world can make them seem out of sorts. There are a lot of destructive forces in this world today, war, anger, poverty, various abuses of people and animals and other negative influences that are of a minor disturbance to us but to the indigo it can be like a battleground within their own bodies.

..Another thing that causes adverse effects on the indigo child is electro magnetic fields of energy that are emanating from hair dryers, microwaves, computer screens, cell phones, appliances and various other electronics. The indigo has a much more sensitive electrical and nervous system than those that are not indigo. It is already known that electro magnetic fields can cause fatigue and even cause one to lose muscle strength. It is also harmful to the immune system and I would have to imagine those effects would intensify when it comes to the indigo child.

..MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH THE INDIGO PHENOMENON

..I gave birth to an indigo child on St. Patrick’s Day of 1992. (She is also a Pisces). She was born on St. Patrick’s Day. They brought her out to me the day she was born in a little shirt that read: I AM YOUR LITTLE LEPRECHAUN. In retrospect it should have read: I AM YOUR LITTE INDIGO. But, no, it was not going to be that easy. I wasn’t going to be given all the answers. Raising her was going to be a learning experience.

..I realized my daughter had true abilities when she heard my mother singing days after she passed. Very innocently my daughter walked up to me and said, “Were you singing?” We were both in different rooms. I said “no” but, you know, your grandma just passed away and I think you are hearing her. I always believed the spirit lived on but this is the first confirmation I received with some validity. My daughter also had visions of my deceased mother in a beautiful flower garden and she could also smell the flowers.

..My mother (A Cancer sign) loved flowers. She was passionate about her roses and other flowers but especially roses. Another thing my daughter said was that when she was young and cars would drive by she knew where everyone was going. She thought everyone had this type of knowledge until she got older. She began to realize she was different than most other people as she got older.

..My daughter became very sick on 9-11 and had to stay home from school that day. Such devastating events impacted my daughter so intensely that her body became overloaded and it made her ill. She was able to absorb the emotions of so many... so far away. This was not known by Shaman Racoonwoman, but during a consultation with my daughter, she told my daughter that she does pick up the vibrations of catastrophic events and that they affect her in a big way. Shaman picked up on this and told her how devastating events affecting a lot of people reached her and it caused her emotional and even physical distress.

..PSYCHIC SHAWNA SHARES HER EXPERIENCE WITH HER INDIGO CHILD:

..When Psychic and Reiki Master Shawna Pennell of North Carolina became aware that I was writing an article on Indigos she had some information to share about here son, Hayden. Shawna has a website at: www.shawnasenses.ning.com and is also on myspace at: myspace.com/shawnaa77 She says: “All three of my children display some sort of psychic ability.” Hayden is the youngest. He is showing signs of being a medium. Just today he said that he was "going under the sun". This reminded me for some reason of the Mayans.

..Shawna says, I woke up yesterday and come in the living room and began my daily routine. Hayden (my 3 year old son) comes in. He begins talking about a little boy. He says "the little boy in the Transformer shirt is at the hospital with his daddy" My husband and I just look at each other. I ask him "what little boy?" He goes on to say that the little boy is dead and his daddy covered him up with a blanket to keep him warm. I know he is channeling the other side. It is not the first time. I encourage it, but do not push him.

..Here are some traits common amongst INDIGOS:

Wise beyond their age
Difficulties conforming to school and society
Feelings of being out of place
Perceiving the world differently than others
Possessing a strong intuitive sense about certain things
Feeling misunderstood
You are a natural truth seeker

You are emotionally sensitive
Childhood for indigos is usually difficult

..Feeling disempowered by Authority

..According to the book: The Indigo Children by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober, there are four main types of Indigos. Here is the essence of what they have to say about it. I did not type it word for word because I am not comfortable in using someone else’s words (and you need permission for that) but rather I re-worded what they say about these four types while still maintaining the essence of their ideas. There are a few books out there on Indigos. Doreen Virtue has a book on the subject as well. She is even mentioned in the book I refer to as an authority on this subject.

..HUMANIST: They will work directly with the masses in society. Their flair for verbal skills and friendly manner will make them very effective communicators in whatever occupation they choose. The humanist child will usually have all their toys out on the floor at once rather than just one. Another trait of the Humanist is their love of reading. They may neglect going to sleep, doing their homework or cleaning their room because they would much rather be reading. Many of the Indigo Humanist will be go onto be teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, businessmen, politicians and salespeople of tomorrow.

..CONCEPTUAL: They will be more going on in their head than in their heart and will often engage in many projects at once. They will usually have strong athletic abilities. Watch out for control issues with authority figures of the opposite sex (even parents) will most likely create many issues for them. Notably, they will have tendencies toward addictions which parents should be on the look out for. Many Indigo Conceptuals will go onto be the engineers, architects, scientists, astronauts, pilots, military officers.

..ARTIST: The Indigo Artist is seen as the most sensitive of all the indigos. These children are the creators in whatever endeavor they choose. In their pursuit to find what they are best at, they will try out many different areas of the arts. Whatever they choose, they will most likely become a master artist in that area. If you artist is playing an instrument it is advisable to rent that instrument because many times they try out more than one instrument and lose interest in one and pursue another. Many of these indigos go onto be teachers, artists, writers, actors, poets, website designers, and musicians.

..INTERDIMENSIONAL: The Indigo Interdimensional will take the attitude that they already know it all even at an early age you will get comments from the such as "I already know that. I can do it. Leave me alone". Their superior attitude will sometimes be seen as bullying but keep in mind they are the thinkers and idea people. They will often help bring in new ways of thinking, spiritual practices and often lead the way in non-conformist thinking. Because of their non-conformist like ideas they will find fitting in with mainstream society quite the challenge.

..You should be aware that Indigo children are often misdiagnosed or mislabeled as having ADHD. This I ran into this with my child but luckily we did not reach the medication stage. Not always the best route to take from what I know and what I have read. Ask yourself…is my child in danger of harming himself or others? If the answer is no then the choice to medicate is not always the right one. I feel extreme circumstances call for extreme measures but to put a child on such powerful drugs at a young age is a serious matter.

..What happened in my case was that my daughter ended up analyzing the counselor she saw and it was my daughter’s idea to get checked in the first place. One the way home she told me things she could sense with her “abilities” about the counselor. She was picking up on the emotions of the counselor. A hospital trip was always quite the experience. I would ask my daughter"…what were you picking up from the doctor and/or the nurse"? She usually sensed a lot of things about a person they had inside of them and was hidden to the average person but it was being picked up by my daughter by a sixth type of sense.
Some symptoms of ADHD are described as inattention, difficulty in performing tasks, hyperactivity and impulsivity.

I would encourage anyone that thinks they may be raising an indigo to obtain a book on this subject because this article is not all inclusive and I feel there is a lot to be gained from those experts that have developed books on this subject.
